In the food industry, it serves as a beer foaming agent, acidifier, flavoring for beverages, candies, juices, sauces, cold dishes, and fermentation powders. Its acidity is 1.3x that of citric acid, ideal for grape juice. It can also be used as a whole agent, antioxidant enhancer, fragrance booster, and quick leavening agent. In chemicals, it produces tartrate salts/esters and cleans/polishes metal surfaces. In textiles, it combines with tannins as an acidic dye mordant.
